sigh
Proverbs 12:18 There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Proverbs 14:3 3 By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.
Proverbs 29:20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
You know what? These verses (and all the others about speech inviting a beating, or your words being like a nuclear bomb, laying waste to all in their path) apply even if you didn’t mean what the listener heard. And you know what else? You can’t just fall back on “well, that’s not what I meant” because regardless, a person was hurt by your words.
This week I hurt several people, and the image of a minsitry of our church with a few simple, harmless (in my mind) comments, that were heard without context. If you are one of those people, my profoundest apologies.
Be careful… very careful, of what you say.
And one more thing:
Proverbs 26:18-19 Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, ³I am only joking!²

In reaction to the whole forced removal of the Ten Commandments Monument from the Alabama Supreme Court debacle, FOXNews.com some Tennessee counties are asking the state to proclaim “God as the foundation of our national heritage.
The ALCU says its “unfortunate that a local government is trying to promote religion”.
Now tell me… what is unfortunate about that? It is unfortunate that people are taking a stand for what they believe in? Unfortunate that people want to recognize the truth? Who is it unfortunate for?
I really hope they pass this. What a great message to send the nation. “Hey! We still believe. We aren’t cowards who are going to bend to the will of the vocal minority!”
This also brings to mind our discussion in Life group last night about how the word tolerance has been completely minconstrued as of late… but that’s another thought for another time.

Pat’s blog is hands down the best site in our little circle.
Should I put his daily entries on the front page of www.mattandnancy.org? Thereby saving you all the time of having to type in the extra four characters “/pat”, or having to click through to my links page (which none of you do).

I have decided to blog my day as it happens today. This should either be very annoying, or really interesting.
Enjoy!
6:33a : woke up (33 minutes late).
6:55a : got out of bed. ;)
7:55a : out the door to work.
8:15a-9a : sorted my “todo” list out.
Thats it so far. More to come.
9:00-9:30a : Read through the University Webmaster’s Web digest (e-mail) and deleted/unsubscribed from spam. (you know, if you unsubscribe as much as possible, it really keeps the numbers down.. seriously. <superstition>But only do it if you can go to a web based unsubcribe form, never send an unsubscribe e-mail</superstition>)
9:30-11:00a : Reprogramming someone else’s Web application using SQL to access a MSSQL database to return entries with ColdFusion. Fun stuff.
11:00a-12 : Still Reprogramming…
12-1p: Enjoying a nice lunch. Surfing the internet looking for a new car. Checking out the news on the Matrix Web site. Reading Pat’s Blog, and Ochuk’s Blog. Added the quote thingy underneath my nav links on the side. Watching Switchfoot’s new video.
Why does it seem like I’m more productive at lunch time?
1:00-2:00p Still Reprogramming….
2:05p – My internet radio {that I have been listening to all summer)’s playlist ran out… a prompt came up “thank you for listening. to start over click here…”
It was a surreal experience. Kinda like that qwest commercial where the guy surfed to the end of the Internet….
2:00-3:00p : Finished the reprogramming. It’s a lot like fitting a square peg into a round hole
3:00-3:45p : Headed home, did dishes, cleaned house a bit, posted on blog, waiting patiently for Nancy to get home so we can have a date, and actually see eachother for the first time in several days :)
3:45-5:00p : Did some support raising. Interested in helping out? Send me an e-mail.
5:00-? DATE TIME, BYE!!
Have a wonderful evening everyone!
