This last week, a crazy work schedule has gotten the best of me and hasn’t let me blog through the holiest week of the year. Crazy, eh? I just wanted to link to some posts I did last year on “Holy Week”. And give a big shout out that HE IS RISEN!!! (which I neglected to do yesterday at our church service…)
Good Friday
This is the day Christ was murdered on a cross by the Romans (at the demands of the Jewish mobs that were incited by the Jewish leaders of the time.)
Ever wonder why they call it “Good Friday”? What’s so good about it anyway? Apparently it comes from the same place we get “Gospel” which either means “good spell” (good story) or “God’s spell” (God’s story). As either definition of gospel works, so it works for Good Friday, which either came from the German “Gottes Freitag” (God’s Friday) or “Gute Freitag” (Good Friday). Either way it has been called “The Great and Holy Friday” in church tradition.
Holy Saturday
The Sabbath Day. God rested from creation, Christ rested in the tomb. A day of weeping and sorrow while awaiting the “Joy that comes with the morning” of Easter.
Easter Sunday
HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!

T.J. and Kirsten have been discussing the Rock’s vision of reaching those who are “far from the cross”, on their blogs. Great discussion. I’m linking to it here so I don’t forget to read it. :)

Last night at The Rock I spoke about Jesus. A huge topic, true. I mostly just focussed on the “Blessed are the meek” aspect, and tried to define what he’s saying when he means “meek”. Give it a listen.
Jesus The Nice Guy, and Other American Myths (14MB mp3)
Dan Shea did an amazing illustration for a poster for the message that never got finished. It is really good and I thought the world should see it. Dan’s inspiration for the illustration is Jesus as a super hero.

“And so the way I figure, Jesus was the greatest super hero ever. Let’s take a look at his powers: Super Healing…of others, Super Resurection (himself included), Super walking on water, Super food multiplying, ummm, Super catch a lot of fish with one dredging?, I would like to think he was super strong as well as my illustration would indicate, and he also had Super temptation rejection, in the face of Satan nonetheless he remained blameless.”
Also, if you want to download or order a copy of the “Revelation Jesus” that I had on screen last night, you can over at Revelation Illustrated. Their site could use a lot of help, but they have some amazing illustrations..

I have had a cell phone for about 7 years now. In that time I have had US Cellular, Verizon, and most recently, Sprint. As a friend of mine once said about cell phone companies, “they all suck equally”.
My contract with Sprint is about to run out, and I really have no incentive for staying with them any longer (my insider in the business moved on to bigger and better things.)
Of the three companies, I think I was most happy, as a whole, with Verizon. I am thinking of becoming “in” and switching bakc to them.
Any thoughts?
