Shreveport Day 3

“I’m not the church going type, but if it weren’t for the Christian Churches, we’d all be flat on our butts.” Red Cross Volunteer we are working with, to a reporter.

I do not post this quote as a boast, but I am overwhelmed at how all of the residents, most of them headed up by churches, are the ones pulling off the relief efforts. The government (rightly so) has had very little to do with what is going on here in Shreveport.

I am proud of my brothers and sisters down here.

It’s too bad that it took a tragedy for world to see Christ in the church… but then again, sacrifice and service has historically been what the church was known for. Remember the Parabolani!

“By this all men will know you are my followers, if you love one another.” — John 13:35

That’s another way the world can see Christ in the church. But we usually do a pretty poor job of even that.

Our church is sending a team down Thanksgiving week to work with an E-Free church down there and probably again over Christmas break. I’m hoping to get time off so I can go. Some in our church are going down to work for a month.

I was encouraged to hear that you guys could go down there. I am praying that God uses you in mighty ways and touches those people in their time of need. God bless.

we heard that alot too in slidell. red cross and salvation army are small-time right now down there. the army is only providing protection. it’s the church, “chaotic, but bathed in grace, and suficient” that is meeting needs.
