The Hirsch - entry one.

At first I was disappointed that we were not going to Baton Rouge or another city that was actually damaged by the hurricane to help clean up. I was especially jealous when I found out that the other crew was headed down to Mandeville (and farther south and east still). I wanted to get dirty. I wanted life to be hard for a few days.

Instead, we were headed to Shreveport. A city that had not even been hit by the storm at all. “A little wind, not much else”.

And it was exacly where we were supposed to be.

We may not have been the first wave of help for these people, but we were able to serve them in very necessary ways. All of us got to excercise our specific gifts and skills to make Hirsch Shelter happen.

More later.
