Mc D O N A L D S

Okay, well this is supposed to be a “news” section. But for right now it is going to be an unfounded rumor section.

The McDonalds on Welch Ave. is closing.

This is a bummer on a lot of levels. Is this really happening? Is there anything we can do to save it?

If anyone has any more info, please let me know.

    Ah, yes. Mcdonald’s. I’ve been home, but talking to my co-workers everyday. McDonald’s on Welch in in fact, clsoing. I think it will officially close today at 7 p.m. As far as whether or not there is anything people could do to save it, I’m not so sure. The business itself loses money. There is a lot of overhead and an inconsistent market. (i.e. most of the customers leave town for three months out of the year).

    Inside rumors might suggest that there could be a new McDonald’s opening in Ames in the future….but that might not hold much truth to it.

    As for now, we can mourn the loss of fast food in campustown. And, anyone who wants can come visit me in the Union.

    That is absolutely shocking. If I were going to come back to Ames after work tonight, I would eat there just to mourn the loss. I mean, the food never was that great there (sorry, Angie), and the service sometimes was pretty lacking (probably due to Angie no longer working there), but, you’d think with a location like that, they could manage to make some money. Bah.
    But it is a great location… Hmm, what could we do with a great location? I wonder…

    Indeed, I went in for lunch today to confirm the rumors.

    I ate a cyclone fry (almost the whole thing) as a tribute… some of the last cyclone fries ever to be served… The burger tasted extra good for some reason.

    But yes Pat. Tim, Michael and I dicussed the possibilities of such a great location… (campustown church?)

    so, I get free food at all the McDonald’s in town, and I wouldn’t even go there ’cause the food wasn’t that great.
