Re-designed!
Okay,
I couldn’t wait.
Here it is. What do you think?
Next Steps:
- Make the archives better. They’re a bit awkward right now.
- Make “next post” and “previous post” links on the home page so that you can click through posts on this page, rather than having to use the links on the right.
- Make the “categories” link above a dropdown menu.

Having been recently learning more about web standards and good web design, I really like your new layout and site. (Although, I fall in the design camp more than the code camp.) I really like the little “bites” put here and there, like the one in the ipper right. (There are some glitches on this comment page, but I am sure you knew that?) All around though, I really like it and think is is really nice to view and easy to move around. Good job!
Typo, I mean, “upper.” (Also, I know web standards is about doing joining code and design into one beautiful product, that there aren’t different “camps.” I just meant that I know nothing of the code side, but I can visually see the design side played out through the code. So, instead of “camp” insert “understanding design viewpoint and not the understanding code and design viewpoint.” Thanks!)
Dana,
Thanks for the kind comments. They mean a lot coming from an ace designer like yourself.
I’ll take a look at the comments page, that is an unexpected behavior. i really am not sure what’s going on with that!
Hey Matt - the new design looks great. You got to love the fam fam icons! Although I am not sure about the pink go button.
Well, I guess it doesn’t do anything for this casual web surfer dude.
The Batman look had character, interest, and was easy for me to look at. This one seems generic… like anyone could have this design for their blog and it would fit them.
As far as the other features, they are not as important to me as the most recent blog entry is, and black on white smacks of a Microsoft Word document to me. Just being honest.
You might want to try a bunch of soldiers carrying machine guns.
Color Scheme is kinda bright… I like dark… and dank… can we get some dank?????
:-P
Seriously tho… it looks good. I like it just SLIGHTLY better than the old one…
One question, the little symbo at the top… the circle with the lines through it… is that supposed to mean somthing???
P.S. I just noticed that on my screen the “submit” button for this comment is half covered by the divider between the commen bit, and the “his and hers book, music, and sites” bit of your site.
Dennis - Good catch on the FamFamFam icons. Gotta love those for sure.
Tim - Ya, maybe I sacrficed a little personality for the site, but it is now a lot easier to use and (I think) has a lot more atmosphere. I like the trade off.
Dave - Keep an eye out for a forthcoming post about the design and logo, etc. Probably on Monday.
Thanks for the tip on the glitch with the submit button.
