The New Rock Web Site!

Well, after months of agonizing over the design, and a few weeks of coding, including a rather intense week last week (basically I did this site, a full time job, on top of another full-time gig that I took on. I was pretty burnt out.), the NEW ROCK WEB SITE has finally launched!

The old design has been around for 3ish years, and has been needing a refresh for quite a bit of that time. My hope is that this new site will not only be prettier, but a lot more useful!

What would you like to see???

I want this to be YOUR Web site. What features do you want to see on here? What would make you use this Web site more frequently?

Stuff we got rid of

  • The message boards (no one used them anyway. There is nothing worse than dead message boards)

Sweet new features

  • Integrated Planet Rock
  • Web site is powered by the Ekklesia system allowing a lot more flexibility than Arcuturs, in it’s current form, was giving us (though they guys are hard at work on that, and I’m excited to see what they come up with.)
  • The Rock Blog
  • The Rock Podcast!
  • Slick new design, including the new Rock Logo by Relevant Solutions
  • A Flash featured announcement banner (powered by SWFObject)
  • Photo Gallery of YOUR photos! (using phpFlickr and the Flickr API). Check out the page for instructions on how to join. Feel free to call me and I’ll walk you through it.

Coming soon:

  • Commenting on the blogs
  • More extensive audio archive, including waaaaaay old stuff!
  • Any reasonable request that you give me.

Special thanks to everyone who advised and helped make this happen

  • The folks at Cramer Dev
  • The folks at Monk Development
  • The folks at Godbit
  • Tony Hill (for his amazing code schlepping in Python and PHP), this guy did a ton of work.
  • Kirsten Hill (content master)
  • Brandon Kleinke (photography)
  • Russ Graves (fixing my cron jobs)
  • Steve O’Hollearn (content master-in-training)
  • A few others I forgot (general design and direction advice)

Looks awesome Matt, I’m excited about using the site as a resource. Good job dude, and I know the hard work is going to pay off.
