LOL!

So... I never herad of the book before 5 minutes ago... I'm guessing that the "generational transition" you're talking about is how more of the young population is more "fundy" and "moral" etc.??? Tho you didn't say, that does seem the logical infferance.

Let me just say that if he thinks this transition is as big as the enlightenment, he is someone whose writings you should take with a grain of salt. The enlightenment changed the entire world in big ways... the generation he's talking about is pretty much only in the U.S.

I'm not saying that his message is bad... becuase the culture shift is quite significant and worthy of study... but the enlightenment... THE Enlightenment... come on...

Dave,

Perhaps you should give the book a read and see what you think. I'd be interested in your opinion.

And actually, it is not HIS opinion that we are in a cultural shift on the level of THE ENLIGHTENMENT, he is reporting the current views of social scientists.

And no, it is not about the next generation being more "fundy" and "moral". Far from it. The "Emerging Hope" title is about how to give hope to this emerging generation, which is far more cynical about life than their forbearers.

Stay tuned as I'll post thoughts from the book and my reactions to it.

And yes, THE Enlightenment.
