Opposed to Passion

Well, I knew it would happen, but here comes another strong wave of opposition to the Passion of the Christ Movie

The weird thing is mostly that they (they being religious leaders “christian” and otherwise) are complaining… mostly that this movie presents the gospel. Surprise.

My favorite section though:

“Do I think there will be pogroms (massacres) as a result of this movie? No,” said Rabbi David Elcott, the American Jewish Committee’s interfaith director. “It’s part of something larger, which is a hardening of religious conversation. It is such an absolutist movie. It undermines the progress that we’ve made in this country toward mutual respect and religious pluralism.” “Artists have every right to create any kind of movie they want, but an audience has the absolute right to pass judgment on that,” said Rabbi James Rudin, a longtime interfaith adviser for the committee, a public policy organization based in New York.

Isn’t relativism fun? Such a self defeating philosophy. I can’t decide whether to laugh, or scream.

What’s REALLY funny is that I was going to write about this yesterday, and then I figured you’d get it, so I wouldn’t need to. We also thought the same quote was ridiculos. It’s fun watching hippy, free-speech, ACLU, artist types try to censor a movie without being hypocrites.

The funny thing is, no person of a serious religion thinks pluralism is progress.
