Elena Loves The Joshua Tree
I have figured out that The Joshua Tree is Elena’s favorite album. Two nights in a row, she has been fairly cranky, whiney, inconsolable, etc.
The first night I put on “Streets” and she was instantly quiet, and asleep by about the third chorus. The next night, I put on “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”, again, instantly quiet, and she was asleep by the end of the song.
Nancy insists that it is far to early to detect ANY pattern in her behavior, and that her falling asleep at those exact moments has only to do with the fact that I put the music on after a good while of her crying and she is worn out by that time and would have fallen asleep anyway. I disagree wholeheartedly. Elena loves U2. Larry Mullen Jr. is her favorite.
What happened to Raffi?
a fool-proof way to solve this is to play some underoath next time its bedtime. (Underoath is hardcore/screamo music if you didn’t know) If she doesn’t go to bed it means she wants to hear U2, or maybe it would mean that she hears screaming and wants to join in. Ok, so it wouldn’t prove anything conclusively. Maybe you should just stick with U2.
When Ezekiel was that age we had him go to sleep listening to NPR… I guess that would explain his tendency to question everything? :)!

Matt… they’ve done studies in psychology and have discovered that a baby can get a preference for music before they are even born. I don’t know how strong of a preference, but some parents swear by playing classical for their baby in the womb in the hopes of somehow increasing their little ones intelligence and giving them a better shot at college (its kind of sad really).
