How The Lord of the Rings Should Have Ended.
It’s no secret that I love The Lord of the Rings. I’m a fan of the epic and everything about it.
However, the whole journey would have been made a lot simpler if it would have ended this way. (Thanks to Chris and the guys over at Soul Food Offering for the link.)
Now I could go into all the philosophical and theological implications and jumping off points about why it is a better analogy for life that it didn’t happen this way, but it’s Saturday, and I’m tired. :)

Yeah… but what’s the fun in an ending like that? Where’s your sense of daring adventure, man? I’m outta here.

As we walked out of Fellowship otR, my wife told me she’d the same idea when reading the books the week before.
The idea even comes up in the directors’ commentary in the extended edition DVDs, and apparently has been around since JRR himself. But Peter Jackson’s wife points out why the eagles couldn’t, in fact, be tasked to do such a thing.
