Ok, I admit this picture did make me smile and get a few goose bumps. BUT the fact that he is a good caring man some of the time doesn't make me think that he *has been* or will be a good president. Let's not forget to look at the other issues at stake here, look at his record; the policies that he has put into place, and the ones that he's killed (i.e. his involvement in Enron, and other times where he has been involved in aiding gross corporate greed, tax cuts to the rich, disintegration of existing policies that protect the environment and protect our food supply (especially meat processing plants), the policies that specifically target the poor and minority populations in this country) I could go on and on.... All I'm saying here is that there are requirements to the job of president *other* than being a loving and caring person (or even a Christian) and I strongly believe that we as citizens of this country and especially Christians have a responsibility to look at the actions *as well* as the character of the person that we elect into that office. I mean, look at this picture! This little girl is blond, white, probably comes from an upper middle class community (I admit this last part is an assumption), but do we see President Bush walking around a low-income community, hugging the child who now has both parents out of work as a result of his policies? I know that you don't know who I am Matt.. but I read your blog and I felt the need to comment here. I *do* have doubts about who should be our next president and this picture doesn't clear those doubts up for me.

Emily,

I wholeheartedly agree with you about what to look in a person before we vote for them, which is why with all my heart, I am not voting for John Kerry. Neither am I voting for anyone else who is running besides George W. Bush. Of all the possible candidates, he is head an shoulder's above everyone else in what I look for in a president, which is a lot of things, character and moral convictions being foremost on the list.

No, I'm not sure I know who you are, who are you? :) Welcome.
