What is God saying?
Ochuk is currently working on a beautiful article that I find myself agreeing with. Some exceprts:
It seems as though younger Evangelicals are going through an identity crisis. We¹ve attempted to make our claim on different styles of music and different ways of doing church. We even tend to discard the practice of systematic theology as an artifact of modernity and castigate those who study it as ³arrogant², ³pharisaical², and ³divisive.² And most tragically, we are painfully ignorant of our own Great Tradition of Church history. We are only becoming simply another movement within ³Evangelicalism² stereotyped by coffee houses and acoustic guitars. What I would like to ask is what is going to make us different in a meaningful way?
Today, listening has become an increasingly difficult task. If God is to use us at all in this transitional age we must learn how to tune out an obscene amount of ³noise.² Our culture is constantly distracted by television, magazines, newspapers, billboards, books, CD players, radio stations, websites, emails, MP3¹s, shopping malls, schools, our family, friends, acquaintances, co-workers, and even our own depraved minds! One has to ask how it is even possible to concentrate on something unseen! Even in our churches we get bogged down in the petty business of determining if our worship is ³experiential,² if the bass was loud enough, if the latest greatest Christian band is actually Christian, if the book your reading is biblical, or if churches should or shouldn¹t be ³seeker-sensitive². I sometimes wonder during these heated ³worship wars² if the believers that are trying to be ³sensitive² to ³seekers² are even seeking God! I know in my own life I get caught up in quarrelsome theological debates about slavery, theocracy, the President¹s unorthodox statements, and infant baptism. I have to get a grip on what really matters just like everyone else.
Take a look. I smell the beginnings of a book…

Wow, thanks Matt! I hope it turns out good too. I need to make it less circular though:
What is God saying to our generation?
Listen!!
Uh, Ok, so what’s he saying?
Thanks for the props!
