Deep Thoughts From Vacation #1: Cabela’s

The first major stop on our way up north is always Cabela’s in Owatonna, MN. Probably the greatest outdoor outfitter shopping experience in existence. It’s the Apple store of sporting goods. The main problem? I could spend $25k there and still not feel “outfitted”.

(note: this includes the brand new $16k fishing boat I saw there this week. sweeeeet stuff.)

Cabela’s is sweet. But might I direct your 25k toward some coffee house entrepreneurs? The Bruce’s had their first investors meeting today and one family handed them a check right on the spot. They could use more.

Oh… and a church member turned in a 9k check for Zeke’s today!

Make no mistake, that number was chosen to show the futility of me spending money at Cabela’s. My geek-lust (for gadgets) is matched only by my outdoor-gear-lust. If I had an extra 25k to drop on something, it certainly wouldn’t be a fishing boat.
