Merry Christmas 2006 part 1

How many Christmases can you remember taking your car through the car wash? I’ve had a hard time realizing Christmas was coming up because the weather is nice enough to continue to ride my bike around town (which is awesome for the gas bill). But here we are.

We have several days of Christmas celebrations in my family.

  • Saturday with Nancy’s mom’s extended family
  • Sunday with Nancy’s immediate family
  • Monday with Nancy’s dad’s extended family
  • Tuesday with Matt’s family

Elena is making quite the haul, and doesn’t even realize it yet. I think though, that her presence is a gift to most of the family who love to sit around and look at her.

Nancy’s cousin Dan gave me Buffalo Wild Wings ™ sauce. Grandpa Wigdahl and I had a taste and our tongues burnt for the next half hour. Best quote of the week: Grandpa says: “We’ll need to go downtown to get a beer to get rid of this burn!” I agreed wholeheartedly, but we decided we’d be ostracized from the family.

Tuesday we will be heading to my parent’s house and my sister will be coming in from Sacramento, finally, after having our original plans completely displaced by the whole Denver airport debacle. Fortunately, she wasn’t stranded at the airport but her flight got delayed three days.

On Wednesday we will take off to spend a few days with two thousand of our global family members at the Faithwalkers Conference at the Tan-Tar-A resort on Lake of the Ozarks (rough, isn’t it?).

I hope you are all enjoying the spirit of the season: Hanukkah (which recently ended), celebrating the Maccabeaan victory over the Selucid Empire and the subsequent restoration and dedication of the temple in Jerusalem. And Christmas, the fourth most important Christian holiday, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, God in human flesh, who would live a perfect life, be murdered, a completely innocent (in the truest sense of the word) man (thus destroying the true temple), and be resurrected by the power of God, thus achieving victory over death, sin, and the devil, and restoring the temple, making the bodies of all believers the temple of God.
