I can't get over the first passage you quoted: "Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them" (Rev. 20:11). I too often forget that the unveiled glory of God must be absolutely terrifying. He is so Other. It left me wondering why creation itself is pictured as trying to escape God's presence. Do you think this is because the physical world has been tainted by sin?
