Update

Gotta admit, I’m a little disappointed at the interaction on blogs. Me being the Web geek that I am, I see this as an ideal forum for sharing and responding to ideas and thoughts. Saying this, I am as guilty as anyone in not responding to posts when I have something to contribute.

Do you feel like blog reading is taking up too much of your time? I have some thoughts on how you can streamline the process. Namely: Bloglines. You can subscribe to the Web sites you want to read (provided they have an RSS feed, which practically all blogs do), and then you only need to go to bloglines, and it will tell you when there is something new to read! I have about 200 sites in my bloglines list. I can get through them all in about 15 minutes. It would take me hours to search through them all to see if there was anything to read.

Anyway, that’s kinda the reason I haven’t posted in a few days. Lack of interaction “eh, why bother” I ask myself. I’m the kinda guy that craves feedback and community. I’m working on a system whereby you can put a “click here to let me know you read this” button on your site. Would be nice to know people are dropping in and actually paying attention :)

The Master Plan of Evangelism Lately, at Tim’s request to the Rock leaders, I’ve been reading The Master Plan of Evangelism. It is an amazing and challening book. It is challenging me, my assumptions, and shortcomings in the same way True Discipleship did: in a way that is causing me to change my actions. I recommend it for any Christian who actually wants to make his faith mean something besides a social affiliation. I’m sure I will be posting excerpts and particularly challening bits here for your perusal.

I like the idea of a “click here if you read this” button. I read lots of blogs but probably only comment once a week or so. I rarely feel like I have anything insightful to comment and when I do a lot of time it seems to happen while I am feeding Madeline, and hence I don’t have both hands free to type.

I heartily agree with your endorsement of bloglines as well — I find it very useful! I love the ability to have an “add to bloglines” button in my firefox quick bookmarks bar…so when I find an interesting new site, I can add it easily to my bloglines subscriptions.

I learned the other day that the about.com sites have feeds for new articles being posted…so, for example, I have a feed for housekeeping.about.com, which gives me links to new tips and tricks for keeping an organized house.

I like the I read this button too. Sometimes, I feel so lonely in cyberspace. I think unto myself, “No one loves me. No one cares.” A button like that would either confirm or dispel my greatest fears.
Oh, I’m glad to hear you’re eating up the book.

Let me know the code, because I would like to have it on my site as well.

I approve of the “I read this button”. But I see a higher priority on cutting down on the spam that we bloggers get.

BTW, Its hard for me to comment on a quote that you throw up from a book. I just feel like there is nothing that I can add or change to something that you have been reading as opposed to something that you wrote. Just thoughts in passing.
