Was Katrina “Intelligent Design”?

Thanks Dan via Noel for this link:

John Piper’s Response to “Was Katrina ‘Intelligent Design’?”

In response to NPR Senior News Analyst, Daniel Schorr’s Statement, “…if this was the result of intelligent design, then the designer has something to answer for.”

God does not answer to us. We answer to him. And we have only one answer: “Guilty as charged.” Every mouth is stopped and the whole world is accountable before God. There is only one hope to escape the flood of God’s wrath. It is not the levee of human virtue but the high ground called Calvary. All brokenhearted looters and news analysts and pastors are welcome there.

This quote, by itself is a bit in-your-face for my taste. Perhaps you should read the rest of the article. It does however, respond appropriately to what is a rather arrogant accusation against “the designer”.

Dude, Daniel Schorr said a lot of improper stuff regarding Katrina. Is he a real journalist or just an OP/ED kind of guy.

Whoops, wrong wording on my part,,, what I was wondering is if he is a News Reporter not a OP/ED writer. I believe they are both journalists. I am not trying to put down OP/ED writer, I am trying to determine exactly what kind of journalist he is and where he is allowed personal bias and where he is suppossed to be reporting truth… does that make sense? I say that because a lot of what he has been saying has sounded like opinion to be but has been masked as truth? I suppose everyone has a bias huh?

After hearing statements like that, I’ve closer and closer to Piper’s response. When you’re comfortable you don’t believe in God, but when you’re pissed you blame Him? No, you can’t bring Him in when it meets your narrow needs. He’s in or He’s out of the discussion.

Either way, He’s God and He doesn’t answer to us. But in light of recent events, I think it’s time we start answering to Him again, as a nation.

    Dana,

Yes, Daniel Schorr is an OP/ED guy on NPR. His official title is “Senior News Analyst”. He still reports to NPR’s two ombudsmen, but is free (and expected) to include his opinions and bias in his commentaries.

He often says very controversial things on NPR, but I will say that comment about the designer displayed more of an attack than I typically hear from him.

It also shows an ignorance in creation thought. The Bible clearly states that our world was once in perfect balance and it was called Paradise. After the rebellion of man, our world began to spin out of control and it’s getting worse as the years go by. Earth is now a fallen planet where hurricane’s, tornadoes, earthquakes and the like happen.
Yes, I know Dan’s direct attack is on ID which does not address who the Designer is. But in America, his attack on ID is a veiled attack on the God of the Bible.
