CD Review - David Crowder Band: A Collision or (3 + 4 = 7)
I’ve been waiting for this CD since the Spring when they announced they were recording it and they had live Web cams in their studio documenting the process.
Last time I was this excited about a CD, I was disappointed, and I got progressively more disappointed as time went on. I am not disappointed.
Musically speaking, this CD is not as huge a leap forward as they took from All I Can Say to Can You Hear Us, and from Can You Hear Us to Illuminate, but it is still excellent. On a first inspection, it is very much an Illuminate 2, though further listening reveals a lot more layers of ambience and brilliant production. They also seem to have expanded their genre-range a tad bit for this disc. Also, the second half of the album is a bit more intense (harder, darker) than I’ve heard the Crowder band go before. But that is on the first listen.
On a content level, this album seems to be a lot more personal, or introspective, in nature. There aren’t as many obvious “group songs” (as we typically conceive of them) on this disc as Illuminate. I have a feeling though, that this is going to help shift the face of corporate worship for the emerging generation. This album stands nicely on the precipice of performance and “worship music” that we are trying to achieve at The Rock.
The CD has 21 songs, about 1 hour and 12 minutes (ish) of musical goodness.
Bottom Line: Buy this album. You won’t disappointed.
The last track made me cry.
And I’m trying to make you sing from inside where you believe. Like it’s something that you need, like it means everything. And I’m trying to make you feel that this is for real, that life is happening. That it means everything. I’m just trying to make you sing.

Matt, I have been waiting for this CD for a long time. But since I have no money, I am going to have to talk one of my siblings into buying it instead.
Thanks for the review! I will have to get it.
Are you a rep for these guys too? I’d like to get my hands on it.
