David Crowder*Band Still Rocks
Last night I got to see my favorite band in concert again. 8th row seats. (which i think are actually 11th row seats once you consider the seats that are put in what is typically the Orchestra pit…). Right in front of the sound board.
DCB opened the night with “Undignified“. An older song which they didn’t play the other two times I have seen them. It was sort of ironic, because I decided to pull it out at the Rock on Friday night sort of on a whim.
Every time I watch these guys I am extremely impressed at their musicality and tightness. I am also still of the opinion that Illuminate is the greatest worship album written in recent history. A Collision is also a great album. If you buy music, you should own these albums.
Third Day was the headliner of the night, and also did an amazing job. The stage show was dazzling. U2-esque lighting schemes, really cool looking stage setup (I’m looking for pictures to post here. Any of you that went have some?) Musically… they probably shouldn’t follow the DCB. :) The did a really really cool version of Blessed Assurance that I think I’d like to give a shot some time.
Good times.

Matt, I loved the fact you played Undignified at the Rock. It reminded me of Ignite down in Kentucky when I first got really connected to the Rock. Also there were freshman from our floor that came to the Rock for the first time and I told them how much I loved the song. They got super excited when they recognized it at the concert on Sunday and called me during it. Then after the concert all I could hear down the floor was them singing to it for the rest of the night. It’s funny how things work out.
ya i heard about this concert and thought there are few groups/people that crowder will open for.. third day is one of them though
hmmm undignified reminds me of encounter 2 years ago… that was a fun night.
i heard on the radio that they were going to be in ames, and I though, “gee, wonder if matt h. is going to that concert!”
I thought it was cool that the guys from third day commented on the message of their new album, there are a ton of songs about hope in adversity. It has become the soundtrack to my recent crisis of the faith. I’d hit an ultimate in letting it all go yesterday…. so it was amazingly sweet to hear all this music live that God has been using to speak to me.
Just to mention that a few of us that didn’t go to the concert had an awesome time breaking bread at my place. It was a collision of our own that satisfied the deepest parts of our being. God is so amazing.
