Confession
Lord,
I have forgotten the words you have spoken to me. I doubt you and follow a path that seems right to me, but when viewed from your perspective, leads straight to death.
In my weakness, I fall into worshiping things of man at the alter of selfishness and materialism. I do things and go places that take my heart away from yours, little by little. I am so easily satisfied by things that are a shadow of what you have for me,
and I repent.
Forgive me for my unbelief, pardon my transgressions,
Lord thank you that you do.
Renew the fire that you lit in me a few short years ago.
I bow my heart before you in the presence of your goodness and grace.
Lord help me to love you again, and devote myself freshly to you.
Lord have mercy on us. Christ have mercy on us.
Lord thank you for your mercy. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your love.
Father, it is because of your son that we have any right to claim this grace, this forgiveness, for the first time, or the thousandth, and that is why we say.
“In Christ’s name we pray.”
