Fishers of men

mattfishin.jpgOn Monday, Todd had a great post about some context of the “fishers of men” quote of Christ. It’s a tad “Upside down” from the way we think about it :)

His main point: when we think of being fishermen, we think of a guy out on a lake or river, by himself, with some flashy gear, casting over and over again sometimes catching a fish, one at a time. In biblical times, fishing was about a team of people riding out on a boat with a humoungous net, catching loads of fish at a time. (And with Christ’s help, catching so many, that the nets almost burst…)

THAT is what Christ was talking about when he said he would make us fishers of men…

Beautiful. Read the entry.

It was peaceful. Nancy and I went camping for a weekend at Lake Sakatah in Minnesota. Very restful.
