This is why I would never want to speak at an inter-faith service. This is the only thing I think I could say.
Everything that has a beginning has an end. Whether you have bought into the lies spewed by some that our world is 5 billion years old, or whether you believe your holy scriptures that tell us that the world is only several thousand years old; one day this world will come to an end and we will all stand before our God, our Master, our Creator, our Father. And when he asks you why he should let you dwell with him for the rest of eternity, there will be only one correct answer. ³You shouldn¹t.² No amount of self-motivated faith, no amount of good works, no amount charity, and certainly no record of attendance at worship services will ever outweigh the sins of our fathers; the transgressions of this world; will ever outweigh our sin, our transgressions. We are all guilty. And so I pray to my God that you have someone to vouch for you on that last day. I pray that God will have some reason of his own why he should let you spend the rest of eternity with him, because there is no worthy reason we can give.
