He also says “that is because we do not give ourselves to it in a way that allows our lives to be taken over by it.” So this is the crux of this textbook - how do we get to reorient ourselves to be “taken over” by the things of Jesus and not just settle for the ordinary way most of us have walked (or not walked) the Way?”

I just finished this awesome book called “making room for life” in the book the author (Randy Frazee) talks about how he restructured the way he and his family organized their days. From 6am-6pm was the time to work, this includes your job, chores, meetings, activities, errands and etc. From 6pm-10pm was time to spend with family and friends. The centerpiece of that time frame from 6-10pm is mealsharing. I think we have become too American and given into the whole activities-based productivity. We are constantly running from one activity to another, from one meeting to another, from one friendship to the other and so on. This book has really gotten me thinking, maybe God is asking to step outside of the american way of life, and to structure our days around Him, instead of structuring our time with God around our busy days.
I think a lot of people miss that doing the things in the Christian life because they seek to do the things and hope it will make them into a Christian (change outside -> change inside). Such a burden is heavy and it seldom gets beyond the culture shock we get when we go against the world’s norms. Yet I know no easy way to teach people that it is only in dying that you find life.
